Electronic Data and Information Management

Are your electronic files orgranized on your hard drive or network?  While it may be hard to ignore paper disorganization, we often ignore the mess on our computer hard drive.  We just kind of work around it and promise that one day we will clean up the mess.  There are two common problems with disorganized electronic data.

1. All files are saved in one big documents folder with no standard naming convention, making them difficult to retrieve.
2. Too many individual document folders that leave you wondering, "where did I put that file?"

It is possible to have a blend of both.  Since electronic files are searchable it may not concern you that they are scattered all over your computer.  Problems can arise when you need to back up a specific directory or give someone else a group of files.  You will lose time trying to gather these files and if you have ever recreated a file because you couldn't find the original, you already know the frustration and anxiety that this causes.

iPEP - the Interactive Productive Environment Platform is the perfect tool for organizing information.  You can enter information into iPEP pages, upload and organize electronic files, and cut and paste information from emails and the Internet.  While iPEP is not required for the component, it is highly recommended.  If you are not using iPEP, we can teach you a technique for organizing information into digital notebooks.
